Is Adam Cerra’s best position in defence or midfield for Fremantle Dockers?

Xavier Ellis believes Fremantle are playing young Docker Adam Cerra out of position and he might do with a spell in the WAFL.
Commenting during the Hard Ball Gets podcast, Ellis said there was something not quite right about the second-year player was travelling.
“Are they playing him out of position or is it time that he has a spell in the WAFL?” he said.
“I saw him at the weekend and he was a negating defender for a while, and he wasn’t really afforded the same opportunities as Andy Brayshaw.”
There was a lot to like about Cerra last season. He made his debut in round two after being taken by the Dockers with pick five in the 2017 draft.
Against St Kilda in round three, he was one of the Dockers’ better players, collecting 23 touches and seven marks.
But Ellis said he’d love to see the 19-year-old given more licence to run around in the midfield.
“It’s almost like he’s getting picked (in defence) just to get a game now,” he said.
“Maybe it is a trip to the WAFL and say you’re there for two games. You play midfield, you’ll get 20 disposals every week and be back in the AFL for round seven or eight.
“He’s a highly rated midfielder and he looks like a quality player but the numbers just aren’t stacking up for me.”
